Google Documents - requires a free Google Account
OpenOffice

If you do not have Microsoft Office it is recommended that you use OpenOffice. OpenOffice is a free alternative to Microsoft Office. After installing OpenOffice you should also set it so that it will save documents in "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP" format.
